Common problems we diagnose
Most residential calls start with a symptom rather than a known cause. We trace the circuit, confirm the failure point and explain what we found before recommending a repair.
- Breakers that trip repeatedly or immediately after reset
- Lights that flicker, dim under load or buzz
- Outlets or whole rooms with no power
- Warm devices, discolored receptacles or a burning odor
- GFCI and AFCI devices that will not hold
- Aluminum branch wiring, undersized circuits and older splices
Planned residential upgrades
Planned work is easier to budget and easier to do correctly. We size upgrades around a load calculation and the additions you actually intend to make.
- Service upgrades ahead of EV charging, HVAC replacement or a remodel
- Dedicated circuits for ranges, dryers, well pumps, shops and equipment
- Interior and exterior lighting with appropriate controls
- Whole-home surge protection at the service equipment
What to expect during service
We confirm the appointment window, evaluate the existing condition on site, explain the findings in plain language and provide a written scope before work begins. Completed work is documented with photos and a summary of what was found and corrected.
Permits and inspections
Panel replacements, service changes, new circuits and most remodel work require a permit. We handle permitting with the City of Austin or the local authority having jurisdiction, coordinate the utility where a service change is involved and stay with the project through final inspection.
Frequently asked questions
Not covered here? Send the details and we will respond as soon as possible.
Do you work on older Austin homes?
Yes. Central Austin housing stock frequently has undersized services, ungrounded circuits, mixed wiring methods and legacy panels. We evaluate the existing condition first and explain the options rather than defaulting to a full replacement.
Will I get a price before work starts?
Yes. After the on-site evaluation we provide a written scope and price. No work is performed until it is approved.
Do I need a permit for residential electrical work?
Panel and service changes, new circuits and remodel wiring generally require a permit. We pull the permit and coordinate the inspection as part of the project.
How quickly can you respond?
We respond to new service requests as quickly as possible. For urgent issues, call us directly.
Should I try to reset or open the panel myself?
You can reset a breaker once. If it trips again, stop and call. Do not remove panel covers, open energized equipment or work on a circuit that has shown heat, arcing or a burning odor.
